| April 06, 2004 Nancy Lee Granberry Madison Nancy Lee "T" Granberry, 100, a former school teacher, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at St. Catherine's Village. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Miss Granberry was a Hazlehurst native where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She spent many years living in Jackson and had lived at St. Catherine's Village in Madison since 1990. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Tulane University and a masters degree from Columbia University in New York. She taught school from 1922-1969. She began her career in the Delta where she taught for 14 years, in Holly Bluff and Belzoni. In 1941 she began a 28 year career teaching English and Social Studies at Bailey Junior High School. In a 1969 interview with Billy Skelton of the Clarion Ledger, Granberry qualified the use of the word, "teacher" "Some I taught," she said, "some I haven't touched." She is survived by two nieces, Mary Nell Taylor of Richland and Helen O'Keefe of Ocean Springs; nephew, Henry Granberry, III of Nashville, Tenn.; great-niece, Mary Ann Elliott of Brandon; four great-nephews, Buddy Boggan of Greenwood, John Boggan of Madison, Ken Taylor and Larry Taylor of Richland. | Madison Lynn Milam Granberry, 51, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, December 14, 2004 at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Jackson followed by the 11:00 o'clock memorial service. Committal will follow in the church columbarium. Mark Seepe Funeral Home & Crematorium of Jackson is in charge of arrangements Ms. Granberry, formerly of Cleveland, Mississippi was graduated from the Lausanne School in Memphis, TN, Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University, and the University of Mississippi School of Law. She had been a communicant of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Jackson since 1988, and former member of the Jackson Symphony League, and was a dedicated volunteer for Stewpot Community Services. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Milam Granberry; parents, Dr. and Mrs. John T. Milam of Cleveland, Mississippi; brother, Dr. John B. Milam of Jackson, and Mr. James T. Milam of Tupelo.
